The complete explanation that I received, I will also include. I personally have never seen anyone that doesnt like the quality of HSTS swords.

Hey Steve there r a lotta people that disagree with what I said in that video, until I find a better way to explain it. Likely u will get a lotta negative feedback by posting it. The issue here, is the DH American 1095 will take a set, bend, if one goes beyond normal cutting, beating the sword. For example, put the sword in a vice, try to forcefully bend it pass the 30 degree mark and beyond.

The thing is why American1095 works better in DH swords. Is actually how "less" flexible it can be, was what I was trying to imply. Because the high hardness, as in how hard and "stiff" it is, this which, during hard impact, creates less "movement" of the steel. Which does not allow it to "easily bend"/take a set, like lesser 1060 or 1045 softer carbon steel.

The higher the hardness the steel can be heat treated, the less it flex, the stiffer it gets. Its why 1095 is a "spring steel". Like for automotive and other industrial use. Which they require less flexibility for stability. For automotive wise, maybe the vehicle has much higher weight, or, it needs stiffer suspension to counter inertia, to prevent excess body roll or sway. .such and such.

It gets too tactical, so I gave it a very basic over all point of view on the video. Which made a lot people disagree, also the reason they disagree, is because they don't understand the basis what r these steel were created and used for, due to lack of industrial education. So to accurately point things out over the matter, requires a lot more research on facts, posts, pointers, such and such. Which is really unnecessary just to win over an argument.
