Описание: The rear main seal is a large round seal that fits snugly around the rear part of the crankshaft. It allows the crankshaft to spin while keeping the oil inside the engine at the same time. This type of oil leak is commonly misdiagnosed as an oil pan gasket leak as the two are close together. When a rear main seal is leaking, oil usually drips off the bell housing of the transmission or off the rear of the oil pan. The transmission must be removed in order to replace the rear main seal.
