This method combines both knitting and crochet skills, making it ideal for those familiar with both crafts. However, if you don't know how to crochet, it's not too complicated to do it. With a bit of practice, it is quite fast.
The method in the video is a variation of the crochet cast off as it involves one more step (one more yarn over). You'll begin with slipping the first st onto the hook, then insert the hook into the next stitch on the knitting needle as if to knit, yarn over and draw the yarn through to create another loop on the hook, then yarn over and draw the yarn through both loops from the hook. Repeat these 2 steps across all stitches on the needle. The result is a flexible and tidy edge, perfect for garments that require some elasticity. I love this method in particularly for shawls.

Please note: this method will use more yarn than a regular cast off.
