Jasper Whitlock was a soldier in the army when he was a young man. He came across a vampire named Maria who forcefully turned him and dragged him into a toxic relationship as she used him for her own purpose. Years later, he managed to escape and is found by Mary Alice Brandon who tells him that their family was awaiting them and would lead them to his mate. They meet the Cullen coven and Alice meets her mate Edward Cullen who is thrilled to have the seer with him. It would take longer for Jasper to meet his mate since she hadn't been born yet. Years later, there is news in Forks about Chief Swan's daughters moving to town. Alice is excited and tells Jasper that the redhead, Daisy Swan, is his mate. This excites Jasper, but he is worried that Daisy will be scared of him after she learns he is a vampire and what he had done in his past. Especially since Daisy was so sweet, innocent and naive.
