Ilford High Road was part of the A118 thoroughfare until the town centre's pedestrianisation from late 1986. The X99 Forester bus seen in this clip was an express service introduced in August 1986 to link Harlow, Epping, Ilford, Romford, Brentwood and Basildon. The timetable was untested prior to the route entering public service and it lasted a mere 6 months before problematic scheduling resulted in the route's termination.
