A man accused of driving the car that ploughed into a group of people at Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade has appeared in court.
The incident, which unfolded on Water Street in the city centre on Monday (May 26) afternoon, left 79 people injured.
Paul Doyle, 53, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Friday morning (May 30). He spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth in a brief hearing in front of District Judge Paul Healey.
He then appeared at Liverpool Crown Court charged with seven offences on Friday afternoon, in front of the Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Andrew Menary.
Doyle is accused of two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of dangerous driving.
He made no indications of pleas after the charges were read to the court, and he was remanded into custody with a plea hearing set for August 14.
