Homeownership has long been accepted as a core component of the American dream, as it provides many benefits for U.S. households. For example, homeownership can provide stability for families and anchor them in their communities. It can also be a tool for wealth creation and for building a legacy of generational wealth—especially in communities of color. However, despite most Americans aspiring to homeownership, many face numerous hurdles, such as difficulties in putting together a sufficient downpayment, crippling levels of student loan debt, and the inability to access credit.
The webinar features speakers Kristin Wong, a financial analyst on the mortgage team at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Carl Windom, an accredited financial counselor and financial coach serving as a Freddie Mac consultant, and Jeremy Montanti, the executive director of the Housing Foundation of America.
