Описание: King Bharathari or Bhartrihari was a Sanskrit scholar, poet and politician. He was the elder brother of Emperor Vikramaditya. Some people consider him the elder brother of Chandragupta II. It is said that after an incident, he became a Yogi after becoming a disciple of Guru Gorakhnath. After his retirement, he became famous by the name of Baba Bharthari. The didactic stories of Bharathari's Shatkatraya have interested the Indian public. There are three Shataks by this name – Nitishtak, Vakrastak, Vairagyastak. It is said that there are hundred verses in each century. It is also said that he was the originator of the sub-sect called Vairagya of Nathpanth. Once Bhartrihari along with his wife Pingala went hunting for the king in the forest and there they saw a herd of deer. In front of which an antelope was walking. Who was the husband and nurturer of all the deer. Even after his wife Pingla refused, he shot an arrow and killed the deer. Giving up his identity, the deer said to King Bhartrihari, 'You have not done this well.' Bhartrihari's heart was moved by listening to the compassionate words of the dying deer. The deer carcass is placed on the horse. On the way he met Baba Gorakhnath. Bhartrihari came to know about this incident and prayed him to keep the deer alive. On this Baba Gorakhnath said - I can give him life on one condition that when he comes alive, God will become my disciple. The king accepted the words of Gorakhnath.
