Die „Maudsley“ ist eine typische Tischdampfmaschine. Im Jahr 1807 erhielt der englische Ingenieur Henry Maudslay ein Patent auf seine Konstruktion einer Dampfmaschine, die wenig Platzbedarf und eine sehr elegante Form hatte. Die geringe Übersichtlichkeit der Konstruktion und die eher schlechte Zugänglichkeit der Komponenten bei notwendigen Reparaturen wurde als nicht so wichtig angesehen.
Dieses Modell einer balkenlosen Maschine war für kleine Betriebe gedacht.

The "Maudsley" is a typical table steam engine. In 1807, the English engineer Henry Maudslay received a patent for his design of a steam engine that required little space and had a very elegant shape. The limited clarity of the design and the rather poor accessibility of components for necessary repairs were considered unimportant.
This model of a beam-less engine was designed for small businesses.
