Demystifying DJI Zenmuse XT Thermal Imaging Camera by FLIR.

As we all know, the Zenmuse XT combines DJI's expertise in advance flying platforms with FLIR's state of art thermal camera technology. It is the worlds first thermal camera made for flight and as such very much useful for search and rescue, firefighting and other industries. Thermal imaging from the air has never been as easy as it is with the DJI Zenmuse XT. By combining DJI’s unrivaled expertise in gimbal technology and image transmission with the industry leading thermal imaging technology of FLIR, the Zenmuse XT is the ultimate solution for rapid and reliable aerial thermal imaging. You can capture faster with pinpoint precision, over large areas and then save them for analysis and further reporting.

In this tutorial, we would let you know the settings and usage of the Zenmuse XT.

Compatibility :

After installing the Zenmuse XT in your quadcopter be it Inspire 1 or Matrice 100, turn on the remote controller and the aircraft. Launch the DJI GO app. In the top of camera view is the information bar where it you can see photo/video format, palette and scene. At the right side of the information bar there is the spot meter. If we tap the spot meter then the temperature is displayed in the screen from the scene that is being captured from the camera. After enabling the spot metering, you can tap any point on the screen to view the temperature of that particular point. Tap again in the spot meter for the area measurement and choose an area by dragging a box around any area in the screen, it will show the maximum and minimum temperature with red dots and blue dots.

The average temperature is always displayed on the top of the screen. You would find the option of digital zoom too in the next right of the spot meter. You can also adjust the digital zoom by remote controller right dial or by tapping on the screen right next to the spot meter. Screenshot button is in the top right corner of the screen. You can tap the button to capture the screenshot.

The column along with the camera view in the screen of the remote controller includes the camera settings menu, shutter/ record and playback button.

You can tap camera have a look at different modes available.

In general settings you can set ROI, Palette and Scene to optimize the image to meet the need of the different applications.
