This was just the fourth time these two sides had met each other in a J1 League game and the derby looked to be a strong game from the early minutes.
Yokohama FC started the game bright, as Takaaki Shichi opened the scoring with a thunderous effort from outside the box in the 9th minute of the game.
The second goal came just seven minutes later, as Masakazu Tashiro added to Yokohama FC’s score line following a set piece situation.
However, Yokohama F. Marinos managed to bring one back just six minutes later, as Ado Onaiwu took his chance in the starting eleven and repaid his team with a well worked finish from inside the 18-yard box.
Yokohama FC put the game to bed in the 73rd with a superb header from substitute forward Yuji Senuma.
