Understand Meters and Centimeters
• 1 meter = 100 centimeters.
• So, if you have 2 meters, it’s the same as 200 centimeters!
Convert to the Same Unit
• The first rope is 2 meters long, which we know is 200 centimeters.
• The second rope is already 150 centimeters long.
Now, we’re comparing 200 centimeters and 150 centimeters.
Subtract the Lengths
• To find out how much longer the first rope is, we subtract: 200 cm - 150 cm = 50 cm.
Final Answer
• The first rope is 50 centimeters longer than the second rope!
So when you subtract meters and centimeters, you can always convert meters into centimeters (by multiplying by 100), then subtract like normal!
