Representing their respective high schools one last time on the gridiron, the top area seniors from 2008 clashed in the 28th annual Muskingum Valley vs. Licking County All-Star game.
At Zanesville High School's Sulsberger Stadium, Licking County overcame a 7-0 halftime deficit to prevail 13-7 behind the booming leg of Jordan Spurlock. The Newark grad broke a 7-7 tie with a 51-yard field goal in the 3rd quarter then drilled a 34-yarder later in the quarter to earn MVP honors for Licking County.
New Lexington grad and Walsh University-bound receiver Brett Wycinski was named MVP for Muskingum Valley after scoring his team's only touchdown in the first quarter.
He ended the game with three receptions for 64 yards.
The win earned Licking County a 14-13 lead in the all-time series.
