River Runs: Two laps on the Stanislaus (Rafting the Stanislaus river in California)

The place is called Goodwin Canyon. It was developed after they built the New Melones dam which effectively ended the Camp 9 run above the dam. Up to that point the Camp 9 run was considered the premiere class III+ run in California and was putting WW rafting on the map as a recreational. It spawned the birth of Friends of the River and the ensuing battles to save wild and scenic stretches of rivers including the Camp 9 run. These runs are the very same stretches of river which we enjoy for rafting and fishing today. The big three rapids in order are Mr. Toads Wild Ride, the Matterhorn and Haunted House. You guys did splendidly on them! Great video and such a beautiful run! Having done the run a few times I have always marveled at the beauty of this canyon which is at such a stark contrast to the areas just outside of it. You did a marvelous job of capturing the beauty of the canyon and exhilarating rapids. While I can't do this stuff right now, it brought me great joy to see some of my friends enjoying this magical place! Love and hugs!!!!
