Ayat had told everyone that her friend’s grandmother had died.
But in truth, she came to a party with her friends.
Suddenly, a heavy voice spoke.
Ayat was drinking juice. She started coughing badly.
She looked up.
Her strict cousin was standing in front of her.
He was also her professor.
She felt scared.
She had lied about her grandmother to come here.
Now he was standing right there.
She became nervous and said,
“Yes… we came to give our condolences.”
He raised his eyebrows and said calmly,
“Did your grandmother die in a restaurant?”
Ayat had no answer.
Her heart was beating fast.
He said seriously,
“Come with me. I will take you to meet your grandmother’s soul.”
Ayat was confused and afraid.
“What do you mean, sir?” she asked softly.
He was angry but still cared like family.
He held her arm firmly and took her outside.
Even though he was strict, he was her cousin.
He did not want her to lie.
