Driving in Bulgaria: Republic Roads 1 and 107 from Blagoevgrad to Pastra (Rila Monastery)

In this video you can drive along on the republic roads 1 and 107 from the city of Blagoevgrad to the town of Pastra (direction Rila Monastery). The 107 leading to the Rila Monastery is quite a scenic road and parts of it have recently been renovated with the help of EU funds.

We start the drive on the expressway republic road 1 approaching Blagoevgrad, a city just about 100 kilometers South of the capital Sofia. This road used to be the main connection between Sofia and Greece until the A3 Struma motorway was built. If you are interested in that road, make sure to check out these videos:

As we pass by Blagoevgrad driving North, we will take the exit onto the 107 driving East in the direction of the Rila Monastery. Originally I had planned to film until the monastery, but the batteries of my camera had different plans :)
