I spent a slow day in Singapore Chinatown with my hometown friend who is now living overseas.
As Chinese New Year approaches, Chinatown feels especially lively — but we chose to take it slow, walking through familiar streets, visiting temples, and enjoying simple hawker food.
We visited Chinatown Complex for breakfast, walked around the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, explored small shops and heritage spaces, enjoyed durian and herbal tea, and ended the day with Peranakan food at Bibik Violet cafe housed in Temasek Shophouses, before strolling through Orchard Road and Emerald Hill.
