Flint Councilman Eric Mays has pleaded to pawning a city-issued laptop nine times over the course of two years, but won't be sentenced until after he campaigns for his council seat in the November election.
Charged with a single count of willful neglect by a public official, the councilman faces a maximum sentence of a year in jail or a $1,000 fine, said Judge William H. Crawford II.
However, as part of a plea agreement between Mays' attorney, Frank J. Manley, and the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office, Mays will not be sentenced until after the November 7 council election.
