Описание: What was initially believed to be a tragic trekking accident near Pune has now become one of Maharashtra's most shocking murder investigations.
Ketan Agarwal, a 26-year-old real estate businessman from Gahunje, died after falling into a 400-foot gorge at Lohagad Fort on 18 June 2026. At first, police treated the incident as an accident, claiming he had slipped while taking photographs.
However, Ketan's family rejected the accident theory, insisting he was an experienced trekker. Their persistence led police to re-examine the case.
Investigators now allege that Ketan's fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to kill him. According to police, Siya had insisted on visiting Lohagad Fort on her birthday, while Chetan secretly followed the couple. CCTV footage, mobile phone records, witness statements and photographs reportedly led investigators to suspect foul play.
Police claim Ketan was deliberately pushed into the gorge. They are also examining whether his missing passport, which had earlier forced the cancellation of the couple's planned Bali pre-wedding photoshoot, was part of a larger conspiracy. Investigators further suspect there may have been previous failed attempts to harm him.
Both Siya and Chetan have been arrested and remanded to police custody. The case gained further attention after Siya's emotional social media post, "You left me on my birthday," went viral following the arrests.
The investigation is ongoing, with police examining additional evidence, including CCTV footage, phone records and the alleged earlier murder attempts. The final determination of guilt will be made by the courts after the investigation is complete.
