GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR: Why We Stayed Here So Long

Описание: Rather than moving on to the Galápagos Islands or other parts of Ecuador immediately from GUAYAQUIL, we hung out in the city for five days instead. This city may get overlooked by some tourists during their travel to Ecuador but we decided to explore some well-known sights and even seek out a few little-known attractions in Guayaquil. We found plenty of interesting things to do in Ecuador's largest city. Of course, we found some fantastic food here as well.
Guayaquil's Malecón 2000 makes for a pleasant stroll, as does wandering the old streets of Guayaquil's Barrio Las Peñas. We enjoyed views of the city from atop Cerro Santa Ana. Many people visiting Guayaquil check out the iguanas at Parque Bolívar, however the turtles there are worth seeing as well. When it was time to escape the city for a bit, Isla Santay was the perfect day trip!
The food in Guayaquil may have kept us hanging around just as long the city's attractions. A must-try would be a bowl of encebollado in Guayaquil, and we found an incredible example of this at El Manaba de Portete.
