Cut Out the Background in Live Video, without a Green Screen

Описание: ADSC researcher Jiangbo Lu shows how he can cut out the background from a live video feed and replace it by another backdrop, using just an off-the-shelf laptop and an ordinary webcam. This is a real-time demonstration of a research project at the University of Illinois's Advanced Digital Sciences Center in Singapore.

** Due to the poor quality of the webcam installed in most of the Windows OS PCs, it is strongly recommended to run the Windows OS Pix Video Booth with an external 2D camera in order to fully appreciate the video cutout effects. We use a normal Logitech webcam.

After installing the Pix Video Booth, select your 'Video Source' then press "Camera Setting" on the right panel. In the Webcam Properties window, uncheck "Follow my face", auto-focus, Right Light, and Auto Gain. Adjust other setting to get a better video quality if necessary.

You can start to play with the 'Change Effect'. Use the 'Advanced Option' to optimize the cut-out effects. The change background effect is at the 'Change Background' under the 'Change Effect' button. There is also a transparent background effect by selecting the 'Q' icon. This transparent background is for overlaying the user onto his/her PC screen where the screen can display any information or documents.
