Planning a trip to the Land of Smiles in 2026? 🇹🇭 Make sure you're prepared! Thailand has notably tightened its entry requirements, and what used to be a rare formality is now a standard check.
At Anglo Siam Legal, we want to ensure your arrival goes as smoothly as possible. Here is a quick breakdown of the latest tourist entry fund requirements and how to avoid being stopped at immigration.

Proof of Funds: What You Need
The amount required depends on your entry method and can be held in Thai Baht or major foreign currencies (GBP, EUR, USD, etc.).
• Visa Exemption (60 Days): 20,000 THB per person / 40,000 THB per family.
• Pre-arranged Tourist Visa: 20,000 THB per person / 40,000 THB per family.
• Visa on Arrival (15 Days): 10,000 THB per person / 20,000 THB per family.
Pro Tip: While some officers may accept banking apps, "Cash is King." Immigration is well within its rights to insist on seeing physical cash notes. Having 20,000 THB in cash is the only way to be 100% "denial-proof" during a random check.

Essential Checklists
Don't let these common oversights delay your trip:
• Thai Digital Arrival Card (TDAC): This has replaced the old TM6. You must complete this online at least 72 hours before arrival.

• Proof of Onward Travel: Officers are frequently asking for proof of a flight out of Thailand.
• Frequent Visitors: If you have multiple visa-exempt stamps from the last year, expect higher scrutiny regarding your proof of funds and intentions.
Immigration officers have the absolute power to request documentation and can deny entry without giving a specific reason. Stay prepared and enjoy your stay!
