CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Inaugurates Barak Valley Secretariat In Silchar, Launches 19 Projects

Описание: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday (March 14) inaugurated the Assam Secretariat for Barak Valley at Srikona in Silchar, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the region. The secretariat will house several key departments of the Assam government for the three districts of Cachar, Sribhumi, and Hailakandi, aiming to reduce the region’s dependence on Guwahati for administrative work.

The project was proposed during the tenure of former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who laid the foundation stone on March 3, 2019. Built at a cost of Rs. 116 crore, the secretariat is expected to speed up administrative services in Barak Valley.

During the programme, the Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated 19 development projects for Barak Valley. Ministers Kaushik Rai and Krishnendu Paul, along with the Chief Secretary and BJP MLAs from the region, were present at the event.
