Which SUV is right for you? Nissan SUV range review

Описание: It wasn’t that long ago that buying an SUV was a one-size fits all proposition. But buyers wanted more, so the amount of choice grew and grew and grew… and now there are options to fit literally all Australian lifestyles.

Most manufacturers offer a number of SUVs in various shapes and sizes. We’re using Nissan’s range as it is one of the broadest in market, and covers all the key sizes and options available to buyers.


Compact SUV
Example: Nissan Juke

Compact SUVs are very much city dwellers. Essentially higher-riding versions of small hatchbacks, they tend to be front-wheel drive and are nimble, economical and easy to live with.

Space is good for a couple, but put children in the back and it starts filling up quickly.


Small SUV
Example: Nissan Qashqai

A small SUV is still small and nimble but there is much more room back there for passengers. Plus you can get some nice goodies too …

These cars still make a style statement, and while they are economical, most small SUVs are still front-wheel drive, making them more at home in urban areas. What if we want to spend more time with them out of town?


Medium SUV
Example: Nissan X-Trail

In a medium SUV we now have an AWD option, which seems to work for buyers as this is the most popular segment in the market.

It’s that solid mix of size and practicality that works for the majority of families. In the back there’s enough space for adults to be comfortable and there are some good, clever storage solutions.

While you can get a 7-seat option in some medium SUVs to help cater for unexpected additional children, this will sacrifice cargo space when in use.


Large SUV
Example: Nissan Pathfinder

A large SUV is what you need if having four people in the back occurs on a regular basis.

There is lots of space in both the second and third rows, and even with all seats up there is still a decent amount of boot space. Many large SUVs offer both petrol and diesel or even hybrid options for even better fuel economy.

However, even though many large SUVs are AWD, they are more at home on the highway, not rugged off-road environments.


Full-Size Off-Road SUV

Designed for adventure and fun, you can pretty much go anywhere in an off-road SUV. They are built to handle the tough stuff, while still carting everyone around.

You can get very back to basics though, without leather seats, in car entertainment or other luxury options.


Full-Size Luxury SUV

All the capability of the off-road SUV with the creature comforts of the large SUV is available in these flagship models.
