Billy Joel's exquisite waltz, "She's Always a Woman" (performed here by Sam Edelston) is a natural fit for the dulcimer.
The Appalachian dulcimer, or mountain dulcimer, usually has just 3 or 4 strings and diatonic (rather than chromatic) frets. It's generally considered a folk instrument, though it occasionally does appear into popular music through the works of Cyndi Lauper, Joni Mitchell, the Rolling Stones (believe it or not!), Dolly Parton, and others. I believe dulcimers deserve to be much more widely used in popular settings, and that's why I do these videos.
