In one smooth motion, he draws his concealed pistol and shoots Big Daddy directly in the chest, killing him instantly. The loudmouth bully is cut off mid-sentence, his power play obliterated in a single gunshot. Schultz then casually covers the stunned crowd with his rifle, demonstrating who truly holds the power.

This short scene perfectly sets the tone for the film: a world where Southern gentility is a thin veneer over brutality, and where the new arrivals operate by a faster, deadlier code.
