Concarneau - The beautiful village of Locronan - And the coastal scenery of Pointe du Raz - France

Описание: A highlight of day 26 of our road trip was the fishing port of Concarneau. Its chief sight is the small island in the harbour which was used as the site for a stunning medieval walled town. Surrounded by water and powerful walls Concarneau is a small world of medieval streets filled with timber framed buildings which today house gift shops, cafes and hotels serving the tourists who are drawn to the magnetic appeal of this place. The next day we first aimed for another tourist hot spot, the pretty village of Locronan. This lovely spot has been used as a location for many films and TV series. We were ahead of the crowds and so could wander the peaceful streets before they filled with others. After a coffee and croissant for breakfast we were able to wander and capture this quiet hour. We then make a short pause in the port of Douarnenez before continuing west to the granite headland of the Pointe du Raz. This headland has tightly controlled access now as in the past millions of feet had destroyed much of the surface vegetation leaving bare, unattractive surfaces. Since the pathways have been improved and visitors confined to those routes the ground cover has been able to recover and once again host many small animals, birds and insects. There are times and places where restrictions on freedoms are necessary to preserve such places.
