The car is the new daily driver performance Golf and will be the test bed for detailing product reviews as well as being my personal everyday car. Is this the best hot hatch daily driver? First signs are that it's perfect for the job.

265bhp, 0-60 sub 6 seconds, 290bhp on overboost with amazing handling thanks partly to the upgraded Clubsport aero package and that wonderful DCC system. The alcantara steering wheel feels great and has all the infotainment and car system controls close to hand. As for the DSG noise - love it!

This 40th Anniversary edition of the classic Golf GTI was the sister of the Nurburgring lap record setting Clubsport S. It is a limited edition Golf GTI with less than a 1000 allocated to the UK car market and every car has a unique plaque showing its edition number.

The vinyl wrap may go or it may stay, the Brescia alloy wheels may be changed and we may add a Racing Line R600 air intake in time but we probably won't stop there with the upgrades and modifications. She joins a Golf family which includes a 25th Anniversary GTI, Rivage GTI, Golf R32 and an Audi TT...and she's going to be pampered with detailing, undersealing (Bilt Hamber for the win!). Which detailing brand will be the one of choice for 2025? We shall see - stay tuned! Concours and show n shine entries await this Ed40 Golf.
