This is a side by side review of a Pro Dunk Hoops review vs. Mega Slam Hoops. I purchased a new house, renovated it, and committed to donate the existing hoop that came with the house to my church. The hoop was too damaged to donate. Therefore, I then needed a hoop for my house plus one for the church. Since I couldn’t see the Mega Slam or Pro Dunk in person, I bought one of each to compare quality.

I am not a professional reviewer, and I purchased both systems with nothing donated so this is an unbiased review. I spent over 2 hours comparing each part one by one with a friend before attempting the video. He also has a technical background, and we debated the pros/cons for differences of the two designs. I have never done a video review before, and the audio and video quality is not as good as I hoped. I even tried using my Bluetooth headset to stop the wind noise, and that extended this by 45 minutes to get that working correctly. This entire process was much more time consuming than I imagined it to be. When I spoke to Pro Dunk and Mega Slam on the phone prior to purchasing, both companies said their product is the best as you would expect them to say so. I am in sales, so I am always skeptical of other sales reps.

To summarize the Mega Slam vs. Pro Dunk review and comparison, I would say Mega Slam wins on specs and quality of craftsmanship. As I was reviewing the Pro Dunk hoop it has solid specs, but it had a home grown feel to it in terms of craftsmanship. I have seen better painting, powder coating, welding, and padding on the much less expensive hoops sold at Dick’s. If you are buying a Mercedes caliber hoop at a premium price point, it shouldn’t have these imperfections.

Since filming I have played on the Mega Slam and Pro Dunk. The Mega Slam has a more solid feel vs the Pro Dunk with the thicker pole and steel framing on the backboard.
