Описание: Hi, I'm Dr. John Barras, dentist in Houston, Texas. I treat a lot of TMJ patients, and we had an online question from Derrick, and Derrick was wanting to know who are TMJ specialist. Well, Derrick, that's a really good question. In reality, there's not a medical specialist called a TMJ specialist. There are various people that treat TMJ, from ENTs to oral surgeons to dentists, among others. It doesn't mean that they don't spend a lot of time or all their time in their practice devoted to TMJ problems, but there's not an actual specialty. That being said, in our office, how we treat TMJ is we treat the TMJ by looking at the bite and bite analysis. What we do know is that 90% of headaches come from muscle fatigue, and muscle fatigue comes from an imbalance in how the teeth are coming together. We also see jaw problems, clicking, popping, earaches, vertigo, all those things related to a bad bite. In our office, we really take a look at the bite and to see how we can get you in a better position with the bite. We do a bite test analysis for about six weeks. We run a lot of computerized scans and things like this, focusing in on your bite to get it in a better position. As you feel better and more comfortable as things balance out, then we can give you more permanent options once we figure out that we can get you comfortable. So these things may be, the permanent options may be orthodontics. It may be replacing missing teeth or adding crowns or veneers to get your teeth in a good comfortable position. That way your muscles can be relaxed on both sides, eliminating a lot of the headaches and things like that.
