Harlequin rasbora (Rasbora heteromorpha) is the most common,peaceful and the easiest-to-keep member of the rasbora family. You can easily breed them in your home aquarium. First of all, you have to know that which one male or female.
1.Body Shape
Generally the female harlequin rasboras have rounder and plumper body shape. The male harlequin rasboras have more slender body shape.

2. Patch Shape
Harlequin rasboras have a black triangle-shaped patch starting near the dorsal fin. The patch on the female Harlequin Rasbora is slightly rounded at the bottom with an extended tip. In contrast, the patch on the male Harlequin Rasbora is straight

3.Body Size
Female Harlequin rasboras are larger than the males
Male Harlequin rasboras are smaller than the females

4.Coloration
Males have much more red coloring in the dorsal and caudal fins as well as in the caudal peduncle region.

5. Chasing Behaviour
During spawning period the male rasbora will chase the female around the tank. Rasbora heteromorpha generally spawns on the undersides of broad-leaved plants.
