These kittens are only 15 days old… and today is their first real introduction to a human.
I gently offer them my hand so they can explore my scent. At this age, smell is everything for kittens. Their little noses lead the way as they carefully sniff my fingers and palm.
At first, they make tiny baby hissing sounds — not from aggression, but from instinct. Everything new needs to be checked. Every unfamiliar scent must be tested.
And then curiosity takes over.
They start licking my fingers, as if trying to understand who I am. This is how kittens learn. This is how trust begins.
I give them my hand intentionally, so they can safely get used to the scent of a human and grow up confident, calm, and social.
Such a small moment… but such an important step in their little lives. 🐾
