While hanging out with friends for an epic Carnivore Day in Charlottesville, VA, I met up with a friend of mine who trains with the Maryland KDF Fencing School. Me coming from a Liechtenauer background, I have always had an interest in learning Fiore's deadly take on using the longsword.
I could not have asked for a better experience. The backdrop of the maintains with a stream nearby made the training we did really relaxing and was only made better by the roaring fire when everyone began the festivities. I have found that in the journey of martial arts, there is nothing like trading what you know to someone in return for something new from them. While my knowledge of Fiore techniques is limited, I was happy to trade Andrew the half-swording technique I knew in return for his (fancy) disarming bind!
Making new friends through the study of fighting is amazing and I hope to keep doing it. Keep training, friends. Until next time.
