When was the list time you saw Richard Gere put on a suit and nail it. Maybe.....all the time.
Welcome to LetStalk Movies and today we are going to review Arbitrage.
StarCast – Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Tim Roth, Laetitia Casta, Brit Marling and Nate Parker
Plot – Arbitrage starts off as an ambitious business movie but soon turns into a nice little thriller.
Review – Arbitrage is a not going to bore-you-with-Wall Street stuff drama thriller that has Richard Gere give one of his careers most underrated performance. The movie starts with business as usual but things soon turn south. Robert Miller is a big shot businessman on the verge of making a face saving deal when he gets involved in an accident that may not just ruin the deal but also put him behind bars and bring down his family. Robert Miller is no Gordon Gecko but the character has all the grey shades that you may find in any Wolf of Wall Street.
Arbitrage is not one of those movies that engage in high production values but one that invests in a gripping screenplay and some really fine performances. Richard Gere gives a terrific performance as a down but not out businessman who despite facing a lot of hardships in his personal and professional life puts on a brave front when Detective Bryer played by Tim Roth comes knocking to his door. Tim Roth is another fine actor who knows how to give his adversaries a really tough time. Young actors Brit Marling and Nate Parker also give promising performances. Susan Sarandon who does not have much to do than stare most of the time does a great job in the climax.
Rating – I give Arbitrage 3.5/5
Verdict - You will definitely love Arbitrage if you love those small town thrillers where no crime goes unnoticed.
