While walking home from rehearsal Kastanzai finds a mouse girl sleeping on a park bench, she invites her to stay at Kastanzai's house with her two friends, they later find out one of her friends is actually the girl- Salem's older brother, who left their cruel parents house when Salem was young, she learns their family has a curse that Salem inherited, Salem decides to stay with them, after awhile of living together the girls develop feelings for each other, then Kastanzai's parents get killed, so she's tasked with caring for her younger sister, the three girls move into a house of their own, Kastanzai and Salem becoming a couple as well.
