Описание: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte claimed he didn't mind Donald Trump publishing their texts on social media - and said anyone who thought Europe could defend itself without the US should 'keep on dreaming' - as he took questions from MEPs from the European Parliament in Brussels on Monday.
"When President Trump is doing good stuff, I will praise him, and I don't mind him publishing text messages," he said. "And if anyone thinks here, again, that the European Union or Europe as a whole can defend itself without the US, keep on dreaming. "
Ahead of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump posted Rutte's message which read: "Mr. President, dear Donald - what you accomplished in Syria today is incredible. I will use my media engagements in Davos to highlight your work there, in Gaza, and in Ukraine. I am committed to finding a way forward on Greenland. Can't wait to see you. Yours, Mark."
The session saw Rutte give a brief statement, before MEPs took turns to speak and ask a variety of questions on topics as diverse as Donald Trump's plans for Greenland, Rutte's own personal relationship with the US president - the man he called 'daddy' - the Ukraine conflict, and many more.
