Salt Testing by Salt Contamination Meter Prior to Coating Application

Описание: In the last few years, the coating industry has become far more aware of the degree of premature coating failure caused by soluble salts left upon the substrate prior to the coating application. Soluble salts that contaminate a surface are typically invisible, therefore some method of testing must be performed to determine if such contamination exists. If the contaminants are not removed, it may lead to loss of adhesion, blistering, and corrosion continuing beneath a coating.

A project coating specification often specifies to measure the salt level prior to the coating application, and the coating inspectors are specially appointed persons who carry out the salt test and document the results

This video explains how the soluble salt level is checked using the SCM 400 instrument following SSPC G15 guidelines.
