✅Sarmizegetusa Regia, was the capital and the most important military, religious and political centre of the Dacians prior to the wars with the Roman Empire. Erected on top of a 1200 m high mountain, the fortress, comprising six citadels, was the core of a strategic defensive system in the Orăştie Mountains (in present-day Romania).
Sarmizegetusa Regia is included in our Transylvania UNESCO World Heritage Tour.
Hidden in the dense forests of the Carpathians, Sarmizegetusa Regia is one of the oldest, most surprising, and mysterious historical attractions in Romania. The capital of ancient Dacia more than two millenniums ago, this site was the core of the Dacian defensive system before the Roman conquest from the 2nd century AD.
Today, it’s one of the six Dacian fortification systems included on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a must-see for history enthusiasts.

✅Vălișoara Pass - a beautiful tarmac road through the forest

✅Cheile Aiudului (Aiudului Gorges, or Vălișoarei Gorges, or Poienii Gorges) are a geo-morphological and botanical nature reserve located in eastern Trascău Mountains, Alba County, Romania.

✅Trascau Fortress (also called Coltesti Fortress) is located 50 km away from Alba Iulia and was built at the end of the XIII th century by the Count Thoroczkay of Trascau as home and shelter for the whole community in times of war. It was intentionally built on the top of a limestone hill, following the Tartar invasion of 1241, when many damages were done to the towns Rimetea and Coltesti.

✅Rimetea is one of those special places you’d return to over and over again whether for the breathtaking scenery of Trascau Mountains, to admire the rich architectural patrimony, to enjoy the overwhelming calm, or simply to relax for a few days, far away from the crazy life of big cities.
Best-known for its traditional white houses with green windows, Rimetea is one of the best-conserved and most beautiful rural attractions in Romania. It’s also the first village in the country that was granted the Europa Nostra award for the successful preservation of its architectural patrimony.
