(HD) POSE with two MEC C40-8s in Westford, MA at CPF-307 [1-14-17]

Описание: Hi. My name is Dan, and I am a railfan based mainly on Pan Am Railway's Districts 2 and 3. Once seeing reports that 23k with a UP and 2 BNSFs was in Ayer, a 28N was in Gardner with a SD70 Spartan Cab leading, and a BFPO Limestone Slurry train was just through Gardner, Isaiahstrains and I both found a way to get trackside on January 14th, 2017. As both of us were approaching Ayer, we knew that the BFPO had to be nearby at that point. We went down to the Wagon Wheel (CPF-310) in Ayer, MA and hurriedly set up for BFPO could show up at any time. Once BFPO passed us at the Wagon Wheel, we went over to Depot ST. (CPF-307) in Westford, MA to meet IsaiahsTrains and to wait for BFPO to show up. Not too long after we arrived and met IsaiahsTrains, the signals turned on to indicate that a surprise and unexpected westbound was approaching. Shortly after, BFPO pulled into the siding to wait for this unknown westbound to pass it. Eventually, showing off it’s eerie sounding K5H, MEC 7643, a C40-8 came around the corner trailed by fellow MEC C40-8 number 7523. As the power passed, we took notice that the cars that followed were primarily boxcars from the Sappi paper mill in Maine. Therefore, we knew that the train had to be POSE. Slowly but surely on the 10-mph mainline, POSE, consisting of the 2 C40-8s and 64 cars passed CPF-307. Once POSE’s tail finally cleared the switch, BFPO immediately got permission to proceed out of the siding. Once BFPO passed and POSE rolled to a stop at CPF-309, we wanted to see what was up with the other two trains-23k and 28N. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t take us long to find out that 23k had already departed Ayer (Which we were fine with since we saw the same power on corresponding train 22k the night before) and that 28N had indeed stopped somewhere and wasn’t going to be arriving into Ayer anytime soon. Although these two trains had become out of reach for us, we certainly weren’t about to complain about BFPO and POSE, and both IsaiahsTrains and I headed back to our respective homes.
