This Chaf and Chet sound is one that may cause insecurity since it's a new sound that doesn't exist naturally in English. It's a question of comfort and of balance. Just like most sounds in Modern Hebrew it's not to be overdone, just to show you can do it, but rather we want to be able to clearly distinguish it from other sounds like Hay (basically silent) and Kaf Kuf (the harder K sound).

You don't have to push through discomfort or go too far back in your throat to pronounce this sound. In fact, it comes up in countless other languages that we hear everyday like Spanish, French, Russian, Dutch, Arabic, and even Mandarin Chinese to name just a few!
