On the 1st of January 2026 a big bush fire broke out opposite The Gatjie. Some of our teens in The Gatjie bravely assisted me in containing the fire until firefighters from Lakeside Fire Station arrived to finish the job. Some of the teens were doing this barefoot. Their bravery earned them an all access tour of the fire station.
They got to ride in a firetruck, spray the hoses & were given a tour of the entire building. We truly appreciate the hospitality & cannot thank these brave men enough for their time & kindness #firefighters #children #fun #copewithhope
