Veda Vyasagiri is one of the formal pilgrim centers in South India. The center is so important that it has been called Dhakshina Kasi. Vedagiri is the Garbhagraha of Ettumanoor Sri. Mahadeva Temple.

It is believed that the Pandavas during their Vanavaasa also visited and settled in this place. The remnants of Vedavyasa Ashramam and ideal of Vyasa, Temple parts and Holly Theertha can be seen even today.

There is a Shasta Temple and an arch shaped pond. Moksha Theertha in the Valley of Vyasagiri. Thousands of pilgrims come here to pay Homage it their an costers – Pithru Dharpon . During Thulam, Khumbam and Karkkitakam (during their months Pithru Dharpon is done)

This Holly land is situated around five kilometers away to the North West of the famous Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple and Two Kilometers to the East of Sree Krishna Swami Temple Onamthurthu, which was founded by Dharmaputhra.

Vedavyasagiri is about of 2.5 km away from Ettumanoor Railway Station in Kottayam District.

To the East of Vedavyasagiri there is the Moksha Theertha or Vedagirichira full of pure and Holly water. After having done their Pithru Dharpon thousands of people reach the temple, very near to the proud known as Vedagiri Sastha . After workshipping the Sastha. The pilgrims climb up the Vedavyasagiri to workship Vyasa and other Deva.

One can see very near to the Vysa Temple and ideal of Bhagavathi on a Peedom. The Panoramic view we get from the top of the hill is amazing and exciting. There is a byroad from Kallampara, Manjoor , Ettumanoor road to reach at the hill top.

When we reach at the top we can see the remnants of Vysasrama Surronded by stone. The stone idea of vyasa the biggest one and the stone ideals of the Pandava. There is legend that Vedavyasa with the Pandavas lived here for during the latters vanavasa. It is also seen in that their Lord Ganapathi proposed this place suitable for the Maha Bharath.

Old people say that three rooms seprated by stone walls. There rooms might be the class rooms for the Veda studies.

Vyasas and Pandavas arrived to their placemade it a Holly land and that is why the pilgrims also come and in explicable peace of mind. One who has not experienced the peace and sernity may feel his life meanings.
