I’ve always wanted to do a comparison of all of my tape machines, using the same loops, and so I made this video comparing two loops on all the machines back to back. This features the Tascam 424, Tascam 414, Tascam PortaOne, Tascam Porta02, Marantz PMD 221, Foldy Makes Walkman Mod, and Library of Congress C1. First I go through the loops on each machine so that you can hear the differences, and then I describe my thoughts on each.
This is a tape loops oriented video, all of my thoughts apply to workflow when creating using the loops. If your uses are different than that, some of the ideas here may not apply for you.
