EACOP Launches Liaison Office in Masaka City

Описание: East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Ltd, the company spearheading the development of Uganda’s crude oil export pipeline has today opened a strategic liaison office in Masaka City to enhance its presence in the project areas in the different hub locations along the Pipeline.

The establishment of the Liaison Office on plot 6, Circular Road, Masaka City, today 20th April 2023, is an important part of the Projects overall commitment to stakeholder engagement, consultation of the affected communities, and respect for their rights to information.

Masaka is a significant City in Uganda and is very vital for the growth and development of the country’s economy. The City’s strategic location serves as a connection point for the Pipeline Districts of Lwengo, Kyotera, Rakai and Sembabule. This will also go a long way in ensuring that our stakeholders in the districts of Lwengo, Kyotera, Rakai and Sembabule have access to information, and a comprehensive understanding of Project activities.

“We are currently implementing the land acquisition process for the main right of way in both Uganda and Tanzania, and the process has involved extensive engagement with all our stakeholders. By setting up an office here, EACOP is making a crucial step on its path to easing access of its services.” John Bosco Habumugisha, Deputy Managing Director, EACOP Ltd.

Speaking at the grand opening, Twakakiriza Caleb Resident District Commissioner Ssembabule District who was also the Chief Guest commended EACOP for bringing services closer to the community. “Masaka represents a market we cannot ignore. Its location is strategic as it is a link to several towns in the greater Masaka area.

The EACOP Project is committed to meaningful engagement with all its stakeholders based on the principles of participation, respect for human rights, non-discrimination, empowerment, transparency, and accountability.
