This film titled “Soyuz Mission” is produced by the Soviet Union as part nr. 185 of the “Around the Soviet Union” propaganda series. It shows an overview of activities at the Baikonur Cosmodrome space launch facility and the successful launch of a Soyuz mission. It includes footage of numerous Vostok space missions manned by cosmonauts including Yuri Gagarin, Gherman Titov, Valentina Tereshkov, and Alexei Arkhipovitj Leonov. It also includes scenes of the astronauts’ personal lives and their training in Star City. “Soyuz Mission” contains footage dating from the 1960s, at the time of the competitive ‘Space Race’ to achieve superior spaceflight capability between the Soviet Union and the US, until the late 1980s to early 1990s.
