Returning to the roots I left behind. In this video, I take a trip back to my childhood home in Newburg, Missouri, and the farm where I grew up to see what has changed—and what stayed the same—during the 29 years I spent in prison.
About this video:
I’ve combined two personal reflections into one journey. First, we visit my old school in Newburg, MO, and I share a story about a friend from the inside while sitting in the local park. Then, we head just down the road from the Missouri farm that raised me.
Sitting 3/4 of a mile from my childhood farm,I look at the landscape of the Ozarks through the eyes of a man who was gone for nearly three decades. It’s a story about time, change, and the reality of coming home after a life sentence.
