CASTELLO SVEVO is the symbol of the City of Augusta. This Swabian Castle is an imposing fortress built in the thirteenth century. It is located in the Northern part of the Island. This 800 years old castle guards the port of Augusta in Sicily. It was built by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II who came from the Kingdom of Swabia in what is now Southern Germany. It's structure has endured for eight centuries. This Swabian Castle has a central body of almost four thousand square meters.
