DEAL STILL NOT REACHED Government scrambles to stay open

Описание: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's office said a bipartisan funding deal has been reached to avoid a government shutdown.

The deal will separate five bipartisan appropriations, which Democrats asked for. It also includes a two-week funding extension for the Department of Homeland Security.

Republican leadership is setting up a vote for Thursday night.

Earlier on Thursday, Senate Democrats voted to block legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security as they continue to negotiate with Republicans on immigration enforcement and try to avoid another government shutdown.
