This song, entitled "Les Amants d'un jour" ("One-day lovers"), is from the repertoire of Edith Piaf, the Parisian singer "par excellence". This song is perhaps a little less known, but it is one of songs composed by the famous composer Marguerite Monnot, author of more famous songs like "Milord", "La Vie en rose" and "Hymne to love".
The song "Les Amants d'un jour" is similar to "Milord" by its structure. There are two contrasting parts: the first, in minor mode, reports the lament of a waitress who "does not have time to dream ", as she says; the other part tells the story of a young couple who rented a room and were found dead the next day. The room is still aviable, specifies the waitress at the end of the song.
I decided to use carefully orchestrated accompaniment in the style of the original accompaniment.
Thanks for listening !
