This is the UCI Gravel World Series “The Summit” at Gravel Suisse. You’re watching the complete, uncut ride from Aigle’s World Cycling Center up to Col de la Croix and down to Villars—complete with live GPX data, power metrics, heart rate, and every personal moment.

📍 Route:
Aigle (World Cycling Center) → Plambuit 4×4 gravel track → Ollon descent → Antagnes & Gryonne canal → Rhône valley climb to Lavey-les-Bains → forest tracks above Bex → Solalex & Frience rolling gravel → Taveyanne singletrack → Ensex singletrack → Col de Bretaye summit (1 778 m) → forest descent to Col de la Croix road → final gravel drag to Col de la Croix → 7 km swoop down to Villars

🎬 What happened during the ride:

Pre-race mishap: while pulling on my sock before the start, I tweaked my shoulder/back—had to brace myself from the gun.

Strong start: despite the pre-race twinge, I powered away from Aigle into the first gravel switchbacks.

Tire hindsight: I ran Thunder Burt 2.1″ tires, which proved overkill on these firm gravel and mixed surfaces.

Race → Tour: about 1 – 1.5 hours in, I dialed back the effort—scenery over watts.

Mid-ride grind: through Bex woods up to Solalex & Frience—steep pitches rewarded with panoramic views.

Taveyanne to Bretaye: technical singletrack gems, then a gravel haul to the 1 778 m summit.

Final push: forest descent, then the last gravel drag to Col de la Croix—painful but oh-so-rewarding.
